Self-Employed Occupation Permit

A SELF-EMPLOYED ENGAGED IN A PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY

  • Must work exclusively for his/her own account
  • Make an initial transfer of USD 35,000 to his/her local bank account in Mauritius
  • For renewal of this Permit, the applicant will have to show that the business activity has been generating an income of MUR 800,000 per year as from the third year of registration

Retired Residence Permit

A RETIRED NON-CITIZEN IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR A RESIDENCE PERMIT IF AGED 50 YEARS OR ABOVE

  • A Retiree should make an initial transfer of at least USD 1,500 to his/her local bank account in Mauritius
  • A Retiree should transfer at least USD 1,500 monthly or make an annual transfer of at least USD 18,000 to his/her local bank account during the 10 years’ validity of the Residence Permit
  • At the end of each year, the Retired Non-Citizen should submit evidence of transfer of funds into his/her local bank account

Professional Occupation Permit

A PROFESSIONAL WHO IS EMPLOYED BY A COMPANY INCORPORATED IN MAURITIUS TO DELIVER PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

  • A Professional should earn a monthly basic salary exceeding MUR 60,000
  • If employed the ICT Sector, the monthly basic salary for Professionals should be at least MUR 30,000 
  • Professionals may also apply for a Short-term Occupation Permit for a period not exceeding 9 months

Things to Remember

VISA

  • Foreign nationals coming to Mauritius should enter Mauritius under the appropriate VISA that best reflects their purpose of visit
  • Investors, entrepreneurs, professionals who choose to invest, work and live in Mauritius should request for a BUSINESS VISA on arrival
  • Investors, entrepreneurs, professionals are eligible for a BUSINESS VISA of 120 days in a calendar year and should not stay for more than 90 days on business visa during first arrival
  • Retired Non-Citizens applying for a Residence Permit should enter Mauritius on a TOURIST VISA
  • Retired Non-Citizens are eligible for a TOURIST VISA of 180 days in a calendar year
  • Dependents of all foreign nationals applying for permits should enter in Mauritius on TOURIST VISA

Processing fees

The Government of Mauritius requires that all applicants wishing to acquire an Occupation or Residence Permit must pay processing fees when they submit their applications.
